Edward J. Nold, 82, of New Athens, IL, born January 14, 1941, in Belleville, IL, passed away Monday, August 14, 2023, in Columbia, IL.

Edward worked as a carpenter and a member of Carpenter’s Local 433. He was a veteran of the United States Army as well as a member of the American Legion. He was an avid outdoorsman, waterfowl hunter, and fisherman. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be truly missed.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Marianne, nee Ramsey, Nold, whom he married on June 17, 1977, and who died on December 28, 2021; his parents, Edward J. and Frances, nee Fellner, Nold; his brother, Thomas Nold; and multiple cherished in-laws.

Edward is survived by his daughter, Carla Jordan of Belleville; a son, Edward “E.J.” (Julie) Nold of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Tiffany Jordan, Cody Jordan, Hailey Nold, and Jacob Nold; four siblings, James (Mary) Nold of Baldwin, IL, Jack Nold of Mascoutah, IL, Jean Demos of Belleville, IL, and David (Mary) Nold of Martinsburg, WV; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Parkinsons Research or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 21, 2023, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Freeburg, IL

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Freeburg, IL, with Fr. Von Deeke officiating.

Burial with military honors will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
