Mr. Wild was the manager of Lyon Industries until it was sold in 1992. He was proud to have furnished such notable projects at the St. Louis downtown U.S. Post Office building, the St. Louis Science Center, the IBM building, the University of Missouri, Rolla Hospital, and numerous projects at Scott Air Force Base, IL. He retired in 1999, completing his career at Commercial Door and Hardware after furnishing doors and hardware for the downtown Belleville Y.M.C.A.
Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and playing cards. As a lark, he entered his jelly and garden produce at the St. Clair County Fair with some success. Mr. Wild was a member of the Belleville Exchange Club and was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Freeburg, IL, where he served on the church council and various committees at the church. He was the chairman of the Baltz Parlor building committee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Alvina, nee Sternau, Wild; one sister, Elizabeth Krauss; and one brother in infancy, Ralph Wild.
Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Geraldine, nee Gauch, Wild, whom he married on June 11, 1960;
one son, David (Laurie) Wild of Acworth, GA;
two daughters, Sherry (David) Reeble of Elkhorn, NE,
and Vicki (Thomas) Chubb of Wildwood, MO;
five grandchildren, Amber Olson,
Paige Reeble,
and Matthew, Morgan, and Jack Chubb;
one sister, Ethel Skaer of Freeburg, IL;
and one Godchild, Todd Funk.
God grant that I may live to fish until my dying day.
And when it comes to my last cast,
I then most humbly pray
When in the Lord’s safe landing net
I’m peacefully asleep,
That in his mercy I be judged
Big enough to keep.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2016, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Freeburg, IL, with Rev. Earl Crecelius officiating.
