Edwin Curtiss

Retired Lt. Colonel Edwin L. Curtiss, 93, of Belleville, IL, born October 7, 1929, in Washington, D.C., died Thursday, August 31, 2023, at St. Paul’s Home, Belleville, IL.

Edwin was a 20-year United States Air Force veteran. After his retirement from the Air Force, he worked in civil service as a budget analyst for 18 years. Edwin also worked part-time for 30 years at H&R Block. He enjoyed golf, vacations, and loved to eat as an amateur critic. Edwin participated in the Rotary Club of Belleville and the Belleville Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Edna, nee Bortner, Curtiss; and his sister, Jeanne (Thomas) Cramer.

He is survived by a daughter, Bethany (Ronald Mandler) Curtiss; a son, Lowell (Emma) Curtiss; three grandchildren, Edwin, Fay, and Benjamin Curtiss; and a brother, Raymond (Arline) Curtiss.

Visitation:  Friends may visit from 10 to noon Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Chaplain Jason Pierce officiating

Cremation will follow the service.

Per Edwin’s request, burial will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
