Elaine June Gronemeyer, nee Anthoney, 90, of Belleville, IL, born April 26, 1930, in Belleville, IL, died Saturday, January 30, 2021, at St. Paul’s Senior Community, Belleville, IL.

Elaine worked as a bookkeeper for many businesses before her retirement, including E6 Vogt Oil Company, Augustine’s Restaurant, and the Carpenters Local 433, Belleville IL. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Belleville, IL and volunteered her time at the church.  Elaine was an avid card player and belonged to many card clubs.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, David H. Gronemeyer; a daughter, Sandra S. Murphy; a son, Craig Gronemeyer; a grandson, Drew Gronemeyer; her parents, Joseph and Delia, nee Lurtz, Anthoney; and a brother-in-law, Charles Etling.

Surviving are a sister, Carol Etling; five grandsons, Chad (Rachel) Murphy, Ryan (Melissa) Murphy, and Corey, Cameron and Caden Gronemeyer; a granddaughter, Devon (Joe) Piantanida; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Belleville, IL, or the American Heart Association. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Zion Lutheran Church, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Zion Lutheran Church, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Brian Downs officiating. Standard CDC guidelines, including masks and social distancing will be implemented at the church.

Burial at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.

So sorry to hear of your mother's passing. She was a sweet woman. She and my mother were friends years ago and I always remember her sweet smile.

So very sorry for your loss. I fondly remember Mrs. Gronemeyer and playing with Sandy and Craig as kids when we lived behind them on Pennsylvania Ave. Great memories! Peace to the family.
