Mrs. Parrish worked as a registered nurse at Belleville Memorial Hospital for 15 years. Following, along with her husband Herschel, owned and operated Parrish Trucking in Freeburg, IL. Elaine worked as the office manager since 1970 and was still active until recently.
An active member of the Freeburg Community, Elaine was a Member of the Freeburg Civil Defense for more than ten years, a member and past president of the Freeburg Junior Women’s Club, a Freeburg Community High School District 77 School Board member for 16 years (eight years as secretary), and ten years as member-at-large on the BASSC Governing Board.
Elaine served as a den mother for Cub Scouts and was a Girl Scout and Brownie leader when her children were small. She was a member of the Freeburg swim team parent’s organization, the FCHS Quarterback Club, and the FCHS Band Parents group. She was a life-long member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Freeburg, IL. Over the years, she served as a Sunday School teacher, was a member of the adult choir and an accompanist, was a lector, and served on the church council and missions committee at the church. More recently, she served on the Kindercottage committee which was near and dear to her.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Verlan and Myra F., nee Fritz, Kamper.
Surviving are her husband, Herschel Parrish of Freeburg;
four children, Deborah (Bruce) Douglas of Millstadt, IL, Douglas (Jodie) Parrish of Belleville, IL, David (Tammy) Parrish of O’Fallon, IL, and Donna (James) Kisgen of Belleville, IL;
15 grandchildren, Katherine Douglas, Mallory Douglas, Jack Douglas, Charlie Parrish, Ainslie Parrish, Aidan Parrish, Victoria Main, Olivia Main, Vanessa Main, Rachel Parrish, Sam Parrish, Julia Parrish, Dean Parrish, Kylie Kisgen, and Cooper Kisgen;
a sister, Donna (H. Russell III) Schmidt of St. Paul, MO;
and her mother-in-law, Leona Parrish of Freeburg, IL.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Freeburg, IL, with Rev. Earl Crecelius officiating.
Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
