Eleanor V. Jung, nee Schad, 98, of Belleville, IL, born October 29, 1917, in St. Clair County, IL, died Monday, October 3, 2016, Columbia Rehab and Nursing Center, Columbia, IL.

Eleanor was born and raised on her family’s farm in St. Clair County where she worked hard with her parents, siblings and uncles.  She attended the country school and later graduated from Belleville Township High School.  She moved to Belleville when she married Harvey W. Jung on June 15, 1938.  Together they raised three children and had a good life together.

Being an avid card player, Eleanor belonged to four card clubs and had many life-long friends she enjoyed spending time with.  Quilting and handiwork were other great interests and she made sure all her children and grandchildren had a sampling of her work.  She loved to cook and bake, was a do-or-die Cardinals baseball fan, and was active in mother’s clubs when her children were young.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey W. Jung who died August 19, 1965; one son, Richard H. Jung; her parents, Fredrick and Emelia, nee Wagner, Schad; one brother, Donald Schad; and one sister, Marie Erwin.

and four grandchildren, Jenifer (Scott) Hood,
Matthew (Amy) Fries;
Ryan (Emily) Jung,

Condolences Left For Eleanor Jung

Karen, Curt and families, I was very sorry to hear of Eleanor’s passing. When I saw this it reminded me of the years as a kid I spent with you guys at the Ozarks and many other gatherings at the farm. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Please except my sympathy. Sincerely, Mark Forcade
