Elizabeth “Betty” Schoendienst, nee Robben, 87, of Belleville, IL, born October 27, 1935, in Germantown, IL, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2023, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, IL.

Betty was a homemaker and retired from a part-time position in admitting at St. Elizabeth’s hospital in Belleville, IL, where she worked for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Peter’s Cathedral Parish, Belleville, IL.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Franklin J. Schoendienst, whom she married on November 26, 1959, at St. Boniface Church in Germanton, IL; her parents, Herman and Clara, nee Duepmann, Robben; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Laura nee Heidemann Schoendienst; her sister, Vivian (Norbert) Hedtkamp; six brothers, Richard, Herman, Thomas, Harold, James, and William “Billy” Robben; and sisters-in law, Corrine (Jerome) Eversgerd, and Marlene (Royce) Fletcher.

She is survived by her children, Jerry Schoendienst, Susan Schoendienst, and Steven Schoendienst; four grandchildren, Ashley, Jacob, Lindsey, and Drew Schoendienst; a brother, Leonard (Jeanette) Robben; four sisters-in-law, Venetta Robben, Betty Robben, Carolyn Robben, and Marlene Robben; and many dear nieces and nephews.

Betty was deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2023, at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2023, at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. John Myler officiating.

Burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.

Our deepest sympathies Jerry,Susan, Steve and family. Betty was one of the sweetest ladies we have ever known. She will truly be missed Deb and Paul Jackson
