Elizabeth E. Wager, nee Remelius, 91, of Belleville, IL, born July 12, 1931, in Belleville, IL, died Monday, December 19, 2022, at Mercy Rehab Care Center, Swansea, IL.

Elizabeth worked as a registered nurse for Memorial Hospital for over 20 years. She was a member of the Women’s Guild at St. Johns U.C.C., Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and Galaxy Square Dancers. Elizabeth enjoyed sports and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. She loved watching her grandkids compete in their sporting events.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Robert L. Wager, whom she married on September 19, 1952; parents, Oliver and Evelyn, nee Scher, Remelius; and her brother, Richard Remelius.

She is survived by her three sons, David (Teresa) Wager of Belleville, IL, Robert L. (Roberta) Wager of San Antonio, TX, and Richard W. Wager of Mascoutah, IL;
a sister, Jean (William) Lambert;
six grandchildren, Laurie (Terry) Cunnington, Lindsay (Chris) Foltz, Robert Wager III, Austin (Hilary) Wager, Logan (Abby) Wager, and Tycen Wager;
five great-grandchildren, Paige, Adam, Jay, Liam, and Eric;
a sister-in-law, Jeanette Remelius;
and many dear cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Memorial Auxiliary or to St. John’s United Church of Christ, Mascoutah, IL. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit the family from 9 a.m. to 11a.m., Thursday, December 22, 2022, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11a.m., Thursday, December 22, 2022, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.

To the Wager Family, Please accept my condolences on the passing of Betty. We worked together in OB. Betty was an absolutely delightful coworker and an excellent nurse. May she rest in peace.
