Elsie M. Eitzenhefer, nee Karban, 97, of Freeburg, IL, born June 30, 1923, in Paderborn, IL, died Friday, April 23, 2021, at her residence.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Clyde M. Eitzenhefer, whom she married September 11, 1951, and who died on May 17, 1994; a son, David Eitzenhefer; her parents, William and Ida, nee Neff, Karban; two brothers, Albert (Madeline) Karban, and Clement (Dorothy) Karban; and two sisters, Adella (Peter) Kaiser, and Bertha (Elmer) Matthews.

Surviving are a son, Larry (Bev) Eitzenhefer of Freeburg, IL; a daughter, Elaine (Larry) Byrd of Freeburg, IL; four grandchildren, Angela (Craig) Kaminski, Joseph (Stephanie) Eitzenhefer, Ashley (Matt) Reeder, and Alaina (James) Legg; nine great-grandchildren, Riley Olson, Wyatt Olson, Westin Olson, Jackson Olson,        Hannah Eitzenhefer, Haley Eitzenhefer, Landon Eitzenhefer, Nolan Eitzenhefer, and Jedidiah Clyde Reeder; and nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Freeburg, IL. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 8 pm Monday, April 26, 2021, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, IL. Standard CDC guidelines, including masks and social distancing and a limited number of visitors at any one time, will be observed.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Freeburg, IL, with Fr. Von Deeke and Deacon Corby Valentine officiating.

Burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
