Mrs. Steckler was employed by the W.A. Schickedanz Agency before her retirement. Always a supportive wife and mother, Rusty was a member of the VFW Millstadt Post 7980 Ladies Auxiliary, past-president of the Exchangette Club of Belleville, and a past-member and co-founder of the Bellettes Drum and Bugle Corp. She was a member of St. Peter’s Cathedral Catholic Church, Belleville, IL; a past-president of the Cathedral Mother’s Club; a prefect for the Perpetual Help Sodality; and a Girl Scout leader for many years.
Mrs. Steckler was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Matthew B. Steckler, whom she married on February 7, 1948, at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Belleville, IL, and who died on September 1, 2004; her parents, William C. and Wilhelmina, nee Wissehr, Utz; a brother, Raymond Utz; and a sister, Rosella Utz.
Surviving are three daughters, Mary Ann (Ronald) Hagenow of Waterloo, IL, Janice K. (David) Saunders of Woodridge, IL, and Kathryn J. Steckler of Belleville, IL;
four grandchildren, Ryan (Tara) Hagenow, Karen (Jesse) Hill, Brian Saunders and Laura Saunders;
and four great-grandchildren, Reid, Avery, and Parker Hill, and Layla Hagenow.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon Friday, May 11, 2018, at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. John Myler officiating.
Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
