Gene had no strangers in his life. Anybody who knew him would know that’s an understatement. Our trip to the boundary waters is something I’ll never forget. Gene always told it like was, no bull. Always smiling. God bless you my friend!

My Dad taught me one of the most important aspects of life--love this earth and stay fit and healthy so you can enjoy it AND love your family for without family there is no life. He brought us to Leelanau County in 1976 and the beauty of this special place changed our lives for the better. I moved from Belleville to Leelanau County in 1993 and spent every summer with my Dad up North since he retired 25 years ago. He swam in Lake Michigan and Bass Lake every day sand was usually the first person in the water each spring. I miss him forever and will see him everywhere I go out in nature. Will ensure his legacy includes protecting and loving our earth. Rest in Peace, Dad. I will take care of Mom, the love of your life for 62 years. Love, your daughter, Chris.
