Francis T. Thien, 87, of O’Fallon, IL, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Cedar Ridge Nursing Home, Lebanon, IL, after more than a two year stay there.

Mr. Thien worked at L .R. McKinley & Sons for six years before serving two years in the U.S. Army. Upon discharge from the U.S. Army, he became a postal clerk with the U.S. Postal Service, Belleville, IL.  Fran retired in June, 1984.  He was a former active member of Christ Church and Hope Church, Belleville, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Alera, nee Mueller, Thien; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Louis Jr. and Anita, nee Gintz, Pabst; and his brother-in-law, Melvin S. Weis.

Surviving are his loving wife of more than 62 years, Shirley J., nee Pabst, Thien;
his sister-in-law, Faye L., nee Pabst, Weis;
and many friends.

Mrs. Thien wishes to thank all personnel at Cedar Ridge for their loving care of Fran and herself.  She also wishes to thank Vitas Hospice for their care for Fran.

Memorials may be made to the Belleville Area Humane Society, to Vitas Healthcare of Fairview Heights, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

No visitation or funeral services will be held.

Inurnment will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Fairview Heights, IL.
