Gwendolyn Rae Poole, nee DeRousse, 83, of Belleville, IL, born February 1, 1933, in Granite City, IL, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Cedar Ridge Healthcare Center, Lebanon, IL.

Gwendolyn was the assistant to the director of the Belleville Public Library.  She was a member of Union United Methodist Church, Belleville, IL.

Gwen was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 53 years, Leonard W. Poole, whom she married on August 18, 1956, and who died on August 5, 2009; her parents, Charles C. and Bernice I., nee Lyons, DeRousse; and a sister, Rhoda Mae Rehlen, who died on January 19, 2016.

Surviving are two daughters and two sons, Jennie Poole of Belleville, IL,
Bill (Monica) Poole of Jacksonville, IL,
Julie Poole of Lexington, NC,
and John (Lizabeth) Poole of Belleville, IL;
six grandchildren;
and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Belleville Public Library.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2016, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Ed Weston officiating.  Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Belleville, IL.

I am so very sorry for your loss. My mom, Ann Agne was her friend at Cedar Ridge. We hope you enjoy the bear we left for you-it was our moms from her grand daughter and I hope you hug it a lot in the coming days.
