Helen Jewel Galati, nee Perriman, 90, of Swansea, IL, born December 18, 1925, in Reeds, MO, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at her residence.

Helen had worked as a telephone operator in Colorado Springs, CO.  She was a member of PSOP (SWIC’s Programs & Services for Older Persons), and she enjoyed bingo and playing cards in her three card clubs.  Helen’s children and grandchildren were the lights of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Vito F. Galati, whom she married on July 21, 1946, and who died on May 16, 1981; a son, David M. Galati; her parents, Norman I. and Grace C., nee Rice, Perriman; four brothers, Everett, Norman Jr., Gerald, and Wilburn Perriman; and three sisters, Marie Neuschafer, Wanda Davis, and Vera Cain.

Surviving are two sons, Richard (Kathy) Galati of Fairview Heights, IL,
and Randy (Kristie) Galati of Swansea, IL;
three grandchildren, Brian, Katrina, and Kallie Galati;
two sisters,  Thelma (Roger) Baker of Grand Junction, CO,
and Cleta (Ronald) Vantuyl of Eldorado Springs, MO;
a brother-in-law, Jim Cain of Colorado Springs, CO;
and nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation:  Friends may visit with the family from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23, at the funeral home, with Rev. Doug Nicely officiating.  Burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
