I just became aware of this from the BTHS West Class of 1969 website. I'm a little late posting but very sorry for your family's loss. I knew Howard from Union School (same grade, other classroom), but mostly from West Junior High. His smile was contagious and he was always friendly, always seemed happy. God rest his soul; this world needs more like him.

I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of your dad. As a football coach at East since 1966 on, I knew about Howard and his years at West. He missed the first Battle of Belleville in the fall of 1969 by one season. As a tennis coach and teacher at East, I enjoyed the times that I was able to see and talk with your Dad, specially at tennis events. I enjoyed our shared times together. He always talked about all 3 of you fondly. Howard's big smile and great sense of humor were always present, but also his strong competitive spirit. Best Wishes for all of you, especially at this time. Coach Mike Thompson & Wife Carole

My sincere condolences to Howard's family. I have many fond memories of Howard that I will remember forever. We were neighborhood buddies and played on youth sports teams together and ran around with the same group of friends. Howard was always smiling and looking for the next reason to laugh. Softball and bowing together later in life. He was always fun to be around. We will miss, but not forget, Howard.-- Tom

Sympathies to the Geminn family. Your Dad and I used to run around in his car (the one that backfired scaring people on the street!) in our Belleville West days. You can't do that anymore. Gruba and I sure had a lot of fun together. RIP Howard. MEMORIES FOREVER.

Howard and I both went to Union School, but were in different classrooms with different teachers. (Believe it or not, Union School had two "sections" of all our grades -- baby boom!) But both our dads were heavily involved with Northwest Volunteer Fire Department. (My dad was president, and Howard's dad was Chief.) So we got to know each other through NWVFD activities like picnics, dinners, and yes -- Easter egg hunts. We could easily amuse ourselves in those days. For example, after you finished gulping down your Coke or orange soda, you could place the empty paper cup on the hard floor, upside-down, Then if you stomped on it hard enough, it sounded almost like a fire cracker going off. Rest in Peace my old friend and BTHS football/track teammate.
