If you lived in Belleville, Jack probably knew you and chewed your ear, if given the opportunity. Vines worked for the City of Belleville for 30 years and could tell you every street or sanitation project during his tenure. He lived life in the fast lane, and when he wanted to slow down, he turned to the bowling lanes. He traveled from coast to coast to bowl 13 perfect games with his tournament-winning bowling leagues over the past 40 years.
Nearly 20 years ago his fiancé, Catherine Reinhardt, won his heart, and they shared many traveling and day to day adventures during their life together.
Jack J. Vines died on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, Illinois. He was just a few weeks shy of his 84th birthday, May 14, 1938.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Joel and Nina, née Adams, Vines; and two sisters Barbara Tadlock and Constance Vines.
Surviving are his fiancé, Catherine Reinhardt; two sons, Jay (Judy) Vines and Eric (Terri) Vines; two sisters, Hazel (Jim) Wade and Mary Ruth (Walter) Harris; one brother, Roy (Elma) Vines; loved ones like family, Michelle, née Schuster (Javier) Geminiano, Paloma Geminiano, Matthew (Heather) Schuster, Caleb Schuster, The Reinhardt Family; and countless friends like family will grieve his absence.
Jack is, undoubtedly, at the Pearly Gates telling off-color jokes and slapping St. Peter on the shoulder while looking for keys, which are clipped to his belt loop.
