James Forbus, Jr.

Print Obituary
James Malcolm Forbus, Jr., 38, of Cottage Hills, IL, born July 27, 1985, in St. Louis, MO, died Monday, April 15, 2024, at his residence.

Jimmy loved his family fervently, and especially loved his son, Alex, more than he could ever express. He also loved his dogs and their unconditional companionship. Jimmy was an expert carpenter for over 15 years. He took pride in his work and helping his clients’ houses feel like home. Jimmy delighted in being outdoors; fishing, camping, floating on a river, and sitting next to a bonfire. He loved woodworking and could fix anything. Jimmy loved God and would attend church often. Jimmy’s heart was to love and be loved by the ones he held dearest. He overcame so much in his 38 years of life. Jimmy fought hard every day to become a better man for himself and for the people he loved. His memory will be held close to everyone’s heart. He was always silly and goofy and was determined to place a smile on everyone’s face. Jimmy will be continually celebrated as the good man his family knew him to be.

He is survived by a son, Alexander Martin; his mother, Barbara, nee Drennan, (David) Boyland; his father, James Sr., (Denise) Forbus; a sister, Ashley, nee Forbus, Harbison; and five brothers, Jacob Forbus, Jessie Forbus, Rodney Malady, Richard Malady, and Philip Boyland.

Memorials may be made to the family, in care of Renner Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Jim - our hearts are incredibly heavy at this time. You were first our teammate/cohort/comrade, then a friend & coworker, and finally our family. Your friendship over the years played a large role in our lives, and we will never forget you. Today, tomorrow, forever we will mourn the loss of losing you so early... but we will also treasure the time & the many laughs we had. To the family... our deepest condolences for your loss. Our hearts are with you!

Dear Jimmy, I am deeply saddened by the news of your passing my dearest nephew. Your departure has left an immense void in our lives, and I will always cherish the memories and the many late night into the morning talks we shared together. The Bible tells us to be absent on earth is to be present with the lord. No more pain my dear nephew. I’m sure grandma met you at the pearly gates. May your soul find eternal peace, and may you continue to watch over us from above. You will forever remain in all of our hearts. All my love, Aunt Cindy & Alexis With heartfelt sympathy, Cindy Forbus ( Aunt Cindy) 🙏🏽💜
