James J. “Hank” Hankammer, 68, of Belleville, born August 24, 1953, in Belleville, IL, died Monday, October 18, 2021, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Mr. Hankammer worked as a highway maintainer and retired from IDOT. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and had participated in Civil War reenactments for over 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William J. and Irma R., nee Kehrer, Hankammer.

Surviving are his wife of 14 years, Breeze (Vickie L.), nee McGrew, Hankammer, whom he married on February 2, 2007; two daughters, Amanda C. Wall of Fairview Heights, IL, and Rose Ann Hankammer of Belleville, IL; a son, William E. Hankammer of Floraville, IL; a stepdaughter, Mackenzie L. Kaczmarek-Rottenborn of Bristow, VA; eight grandchildren, Dominic and Nathaniel Kariban, Sam and Luke Hankammer, Brandy Anthony, William J. Hankammer, and Theo and Otto Rottenborn; and a brother, David W. (Rhonda) Hankammer of Millstadt, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Belleville Area Humane Society, or to Helping Strays of Monroe County. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation:  Friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon Friday, October 22, 2021, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL. Standard CDC guidelines, including masks and social distancing will be observed.

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Friday, October 22, 2021, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Joan Mier officiating.

 Burial will be at Mascoutah City Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.

So sorry for your loss. Hank was a great guy. He was awesome operator on the equipment too. He dug out alot of beaver dams at our storm water pump stations at IDOT. God Bless

Deepest Sympathy to you Vickie and all of Hank's family for your loss. I worked with Hank a few times when I helped clear snow with IDOT at the Bowman yard. Always friendly and helpful and a good friend. God bless all of you at this difficult time.

So sorry to hear about Hank. He was a special kind of man that would help at everything when needed. Being a fellow Friends of NRA committeeman, I got to know Hank and all the values he held to such a high regard. God, Guns, Family, Motorcycles and the list goes on. I am proud to be able to call him my friend. My condolences to all the family members.

My heart weeps with the loss of Hank. He is in God's care now. For those that believe know he will always be with his Loved ones, watching over everyone. God Bless everyone that were lucky to call him Husband, Father, best buddy, the list is endless............Beless u Hankman, Rest in Peace.

To the family of Hank-I know he left you with many wonderful memories to make you smile. Bill, Mandy and Rose, he loved you oh so much. He was always sharing stories and beaming with pride when he spoke of you. I worked with Hank for many years and he was allllways laughing. Great memories of Hank.
