Mr. Hankammer worked as a highway maintainer and retired from IDOT. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and had participated in Civil War reenactments for over 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William J. and Irma R., nee Kehrer, Hankammer.
Surviving are his wife of 14 years, Breeze (Vickie L.), nee McGrew, Hankammer, whom he married on February 2, 2007; two daughters, Amanda C. Wall of Fairview Heights, IL, and Rose Ann Hankammer of Belleville, IL; a son, William E. Hankammer of Floraville, IL; a stepdaughter, Mackenzie L. Kaczmarek-Rottenborn of Bristow, VA; eight grandchildren, Dominic and Nathaniel Kariban, Sam and Luke Hankammer, Brandy Anthony, William J. Hankammer, and Theo and Otto Rottenborn; and a brother, David W. (Rhonda) Hankammer of Millstadt, IL.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Friday, October 22, 2021, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Joan Mier officiating.
Burial will be at Mascoutah City Cemetery, Mascoutah, IL.
