James K. Huling, 87, of Belleville, IL, born April 3, 1929, in DeSoto, MO, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016, at Meridian Village, Glen Carbon, IL.

Mr. Huling was a mechanical engineer who graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, MO.  While working for many years at Clayton Corporation and, later, 26 years at Barry Wehmiller, both in St. Louis, MO, he developed 12 patents pertaining to the aerosol industry and utility conservation in the brewing industry.  He was proud of his pasteurizing designs for Anheuser Busch.  He retired in 1993.

Jim was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, Belleville, IL.  He served 13 years with the U.S. Army Reserves, from 1948 to 1961.  Jim enjoyed golfing, fishing, and playing cards.  He especially enjoyed vacationing with his family.  He traveled extensively with his wife, visiting many countries abroad.

Jim was preceded in death by his grandmother, Amanda Hunt; his parents, Joseph T. and Helen, nee Wideman, Huling; and a sister, Charlotte Brown.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 65 years, Rosalind V., nee Lorenz, Huling whom he married on June 16, 1951, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church;
two daughters and a son, Sharon Jean (Keith) Lee of Bethalto, IL,
Robert James Huling of Baytown, TX,
and Shelley Kay (Russ) Gilliland of Edwardsville, IL;
five grandchildren, Matthew (Mandy) Lee, Erin (Richard) Dalager,
Tim (Sara) Lee, Paige Gilliland, and Scott Gilliland;
and a great-grandson, Keller Lee.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Queen of Peace Church, Belleville, IL, with Father Matthew Elie officiating.  Burial of cremains will be at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.
