James “Jimmy” Carlson, 79, of Belleville, IL, born September 19, 1942, in Belleville, IL, died Monday, September 5, 2022, at Memorial Hospital, Carbondale, IL.

Jimmy was very interested in car shows, he went to all the Gear Jammers with his Uncle Warren. He won a medal for bowling in the Special Olympics.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Vernell (Henry “Hank”), nee Ebel, Hangsleben; five uncles, Robert Ebel, Bernhard (Delores) Ebel II, Wilbert Ebel, Elmer (JoAnn) Ebel, and best friend for 75 years Warren Ebel; and three aunts, Shirley (Jean) Lougeay, Melba Wildy, and Alice (Carl) Bohnenstiehl.

He is survived by his aunt, Judy Ebel; an uncle, Jack Wildy; and ten cousins, Bernhard Ebel, Jimmy Large, Denise Lougeay, Sandy Schmittling, Melinda Ebel, Brad Ebel, Lisa Blake, Jeffery Ebel, Robert Ebel, and Chrissy Shumaker.

Memorials may be made to the Special Olympics Southern Illinois. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Private burial will be held at Shiloh City Cemetery, Shiloh, IL.

Jimmy was a good guy/friend. Miss him showing off his medal and seeing him at the car shows.

Will miss Jimmy at Gear Jammer car shows and giving him and Warren dash plaques. Will think of both you and Warren at Sundays big car show. Rest in peace. George Casey, Gear Jammers
