My deepest sympathies to you and your son. Jim spoke so lovingly about both of you. I was introduced to Jim through my parents Larry and Carolyn Stern. He was always so kind to them, especially my mother after my father died. We were grateful to him for his guidance, but mostly for his compassion. Our family sends its prayers and best wishes to you. We will miss Jim. Regards, Dan and Jane Stern and family

Jim shared his love of The Grateful Dead when we needed him most. I wanted you to know that he made a great Ripple in the still water, and he never needed a pebble, only his gentle presence. I will always hear his voice as his curated songs fill the air. With love and sympathy to you both and to all his dear friends.

Mary and Jack, I’m not even sure I know where to start. You both have my heartfelt condolences. Jim entered our lives in the early 90’s and as they say the rest was history. As I read the other condolences, I see he was an actual Svengali. He made all his clients and friends feel special. Mary, when I met you in November, it was as if I’d always known you. And Jack, I remember how proud he was when you came into the world. I knew his pride grew with all your accomplishments. I will keep you both in prayer for comfort and peace. Kelley, fly high my friend. You were one of the great ones.

Dear Mary and Jack, although I've never met you, I feel as though I have known you for years. I met Jim through a friend when I lived in Dogtown in the '80's, and he impressed me so much he immediately became my finance guy. We had an easy professional relationship so for 40-odd years. I knew Jim was not well, but I was shocked to get John's email that he had passed. Please accept my deepest condolences, and I hope you will find some comfort in your memories. Rest in Peace, Jim.

He was the consummate professional when discussing investments, but never happier than when he was talking about his lovely wife and his wonderful son! We shared many lunches and I will always think of him when I hear someone order an Arnold Palmer. Fly high, Jim! You certainly left a great legacy and will be sorely missed.

Pauline and I were stunned to learn of Jim’s passing! Our heartfelt love and prayers go out to Mary and Jack, and all of Jim’s family. Jim was the best in every way. He was professional and pro-active on our behalf. We had total faith and reliance on Jim’s guidance and advice. Beyond all that, he quickly became a great friend whom we looked forward to seeing on his trips to Texas. Jim’s love and devotion to wife Mary and son Jack was evident whenever we met as we spoke of family often, and Jim’s pride in the fine young man Jack has grown to be was heartwarming; we felt we knew Jack through Jim. We will miss him greatly! May loving memories of Jim bring you comfort.

After 30-plus years of sound financial advice, Jim was not seen just as an advisor, but as a good friend. He had the great quality of being able to take fiancial-ese and translate it into that which we lay people are then able to understand. We saw your quiet and calm demeanor when sharing your knowledge and expertise as worthy of our trust and investment. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
