James R. Koderhandt, 76, of Belleville, IL, born January 19, 1948, in Belleville, IL, died Sunday, February 18, 2024, at his residence.

For 60 years Mr. Koderhandt was the owner and operator of Quality Plating Works, Belleville, IL. He was a graduate of Belleville Township High School and was a sports fanatic. He especially enjoyed baseball, golfing, and the Shamrocks softball team. He was well-known in the metro east area and a friend to many.

James was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Mabel, nee Schmidt, Koderhandt; two brothers, George Koderhandt Jr. and Stephen Koderhandt; two sisters, Janet and Carol Koderhandt; a brother-in-law, Jimmy Lillis; and a sister-in-law, Christine Lillis.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Madeline, Nee Lillis, Koderhandt whom he married in 1971; a son, Jason Koderhandt; two grandchildren, Constance and Connor Koderhandt; his siblings, David (Donna) Koderhandt, Christy Koderhandt, Karen (Kurt) Daesch, Patty Rompel; a sister-in-law, Linda Koderhandt; other in-laws, Diane (Bob) DeAngalis, Patsy Lillis, Carol (Dennis) Kussart, Angie Lillis, Paul Lillis, Jolene Lillis; and many dear nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 15, 2024, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL. A celebration of life will follow on Saturday, March 16, 2024.

To the entire family, I am so sorry for your loss. I have so many memories of playing against and WITH the Shamrocks. We had so much fun together.

Cody from the neighborhood, never had a harsh word. Loved his pipe. In-laws, the Lillie’s were my neighbor, watched him clean their gutters. May he rest in peace. Condolences to all his family.

Madeline, my condolences on Jimmy’s passing. I have so many memories of those days watching the Shamrocks. I can only imagine the heavenly reunion Jimmy is having with Spider, Moe & Danny. May Jimmy rest in peace.
