James “Jim” or “Jimmy” Malan, 55, of O’Fallon, IL, born May 13, 1965, in Centralia, IL, died Sunday, December 27, 2020, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, IL.

Jim served for 21 years in the United States Air Force, holding the rank of MSGT. He served in the medical support squadron and meteorological and navigation system career fields. Upon his retirement in 2004, he attended SWIC obtaining a degree in Medical Laboratory Technology and worked in that field for several years.  Most recently he worked as a customer service representative for Serra Honda of O’Fallon, IL.

Jim loved sitting out back in his yard at the golden hour, enjoying the sunset with a good cigar and an IPA.  He loved watching sports.  He was a fan of the St. Louis Blues and especially loved watching his beloved Illini.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gordan L. Malan.

Surviving are his wife, Mary, nee Pardee, Malan; two children, Amanda (Matt) Cherry and James Scott Malan; two grandchildren, Isaac and Samuel Cherry; his mother, Marilyn Malan; and a brother, sisters, nephews, extended family, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any local food pantry or by supporting your local businesses. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation:  Friends may visit from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2021, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL. Standard CDC guidelines, including masks and a limited number of visitors at any one time will be observed.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date.

Served with Jim at WPAFB. Weather CRA. I new Mandy and Scotty when they were still very young. So sorry for your loss. Jim was a good friend.

Thinking of you, Mary. So sad to hear about Jim. I had the honor of working with him at the American Red Cross for a couple of years. Remembering some happy hours from way back and when we worked together. Jim had a great since of humor. Glad my sister introduced us years ago. Peace to you and the family.

I offer my deepest condolences to family and friends on the untimely loss of a good man, my friend Jim. A more terrible punch to the gut I cannot imagine.
