Jane J. Hays, nee Juergens, 84, of Belleville, IL, born November 11, 1932, in East St. Louis, IL, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Jane grew up in Chester, IL, and after graduating from Chester High School, she attended McMurray College from 1950 to 1954.  On December 19, 1953, she married her husband, Donald L. Hays, in Chester, IL. Shortly after their marriage, Don, as an officer in the 804th Engineer Aviation Battalion, was assigned to RAF Station Greenham Common in the United Kingdom.  He and Jane resided there for a couple of years before returning to Steeleville, IL, to establish their home. Jane became the loving mother of three adoring children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Hays, who died January 6, 1977; and her parents, Judge William G. and Helen A., nee Young, Juergens.

Surviving are two sons and a daughter, Greg Hays of Belleville, IL,
Heidi (Gary) Thacker of Belvidere, IL,
and Michael (Charlotte) Hays of Cedar Rapids, IA;
seven grandchildren,  Kelsey (Nick Fulton) Thacker, Kendall (fiancé Jason Ferree) Thacker,
Juergen Hays, Emilijah Hays, Jared Hays,
Hayley Hays, and Wyatt Hays;
one brother, Dr. William G. (Joan) Juergens of St. Louis, MO;
and a sister-in-law, Jeanie (Randy) Bond of Steeleville, IL.

Funeral:  A private graveside service will be held at Paradise Cemetery, Steeleville, IL, with Rev. Bud Bennet officiating.
