Ethel “Jane” Schilling, nee Sellers, 83, of New Athens, IL, born October 28, 1931, Luther, MI, died at her residence on Monday, May 25, 2015, with her family at her side following a courageous battle with cancer.

Mrs. Schilling was engaged in the farming industry throughout her life.  She was a member of the St. Clair County Pork Producers, the St. Clair County Farm Bureau, and the Broad Hollow Grange.

Jane was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and enjoyed playing Euchre.  She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Freeburg, IL, and a member of the St. Joseph’s Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Ludger C. Schilling Sr., whom she married on November 27, 1952, and who died on September 26, 1988; her parents, Alfred A. and Ethel, nee Sarver, Sellers; a grandson, Ludger Christian Schilling III; a sister, Joy Johnson; and a brother, Nat Gould.

Surviving are two sons, Ludger C. Jr. (Beth) Schilling,
and Andrew F. (Deb) Schilling;
three daughters, Ethel Janice (Larry) Friederich,
Martha M. (David) Dahm,
and Therese R. Schilling;
12 grandchildren, Lindsey Schilling,
Emilie Schilling,
Clare (Kyle) Row,
Drew (Emily) Schilling,
Kelli (Tim) Lubenkov,
Jared (Courtney) Schilling,
Michael (Nicki) Schilling,
Megan (Jeff) Ebeler,
Christine (Kevin) Koehn,
Erica (Ryan) Werkmeister,
Amy Friederich,
and Ludger Clayton Dahm;
fourteen great-grandchildren, Brayden, Allie, Emma,
Bryce, Lucy, Alivia,
Kaegan, Noah, Audrey,
Emilin, Vivienne, Jude,
Christian, and Genevieve;
and three sisters, Gae Caron,
Katie Bindig,
and Gloria Campbell.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to her sister Katie for her care and compassion shown to Jane during her illness.

Visitation:  Friends may call from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Freeburg, IL.

Funeral:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Freeburg, IL, with Fr. Mark Reyling officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Freeburg, IL.

To the Schilling Family: I am sorry to hear about the passing of Jane. Even though it is comforting to know that she is no longer suffering from any illness, it is still to difficult to deal with her death.
