Janet Irene Kult, nee Launius, 82, of Belleville, IL, born December 7, 1938, in East St. Louis, IL, died Monday, June 21, 2021, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Mrs. Kult was a 1956 graduate of St. Teresa Academy, East St. Louis, IL. She worked as a loan officer for many years at Pulaski Savings and Loan, St. Louis, MO, and later at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL. Before retirement, she was employed in the cardiology department of Washington University School of Medicine for 20 years.

A devout Catholic, Janet routinely said her daily rosary for all those she knew and loved, and for those she didn’t. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Peter’s Cathedral and for the last 25 years, was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church.

Janet was an avid quilt bingo player, she loved her roses and birds, and was always rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals.  She was a bookworm, a serious pinochle player, and loved her crossword puzzles.  She cherished time spent with family and friends and adored her three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene “Gene” Kult; and her parents, George and Irene, nee Maes, Launius.

Surviving are her daughter, Laurie (David) Oberholtzer of Freeburg, IL;
three grandchildren, Ashley (Dan) Deeken, Jillian (Alex) Nickens, and Evan Oberholtzer;
two sisters-in-law, Patricia (Larry) Kabwick of Carlinville, IL, and Shirley (Mark) Holmes of Glen Carbon, IL;
two brothers-in-law, Robert (Judy) Kult of Granite City, IL, and Leroy (Dottie) Kult of Lexington, KY;
numerous nieces and nephews; and cousins.

Memorials may be made to the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO, or to St. Augustine of Canterbury Building Fund. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation:  Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2021, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2021, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  A Mass of Christian Burial  will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2021, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.

Burial will be at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.

Laurie - sincere condolences to you and your family on the loss of your Mom. She was so sweet and we had some fun conversations over the years . Her last card said she was going to call soon so we could gab and gab and gab. We were blessed to know her. Love to all your family. Shelley & Max

Laurie I am so sorry about the loss of your Mom. I have so many memories of her and all the times we spent at your house growing up. She was so sweet and funny. It was so good seeing her at Jillian's Wedding. I know how much you will miss her. Just know she will always be with you in all the memories you have of her. Love you my Friend❤️??

She and her family were the sweetest people ever. Laurie, you have my very deepest sympathy & I love all of you dearly. Seeing your mother and dad and you at church together. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
