Jerry Isom graduated from Sparta High School in 1956. From there he served in the United States Air Force for three years as a radio operator. After serving in the Air Force, Jerry attended Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. He graduated in 1964 where he then went to dental school at Loyola University in Chicago. Jerry graduated from dental school in 1969. He practiced dentistry in Millstadt, Illinois for almost 40 years. Jerry loved the great outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and golf were some of his favorite hobbies. He loved watching football and mowing the grass as if it was a baseball field. Without a doubt, Jerry cherished his time with family, friends, and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbert J. Isom; and a brother, Jim C. Isom DVM.
Surviving are his wife, Mary F., nee Fries, Isom;
two daughters, Elizabeth (Tom) Johnson, and Laura C. Isom;
two grandchildren, William Baxter and Mary Elizabeth Johnson;
his mother, Lucille M., nee Hill, Isom;
and a sister, Judy (Dan) Nelson.
