Ralph “Jay” Oughton, Jr, 76, of Belleville, IL, born December 9, 1946, in Belleville, IL, died Sunday, January 29, 2023.

Jay attended St. Teresa Grade School and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1964. He was a United States Army veteran and served in the Vietnam War in 1966. Mr. Oughton had a long career as a meat cutter and was a member of the Meat Cutters Union Local #534. During his retirement, he often volunteered for Meals on Wheels.  He enjoyed golf, traveling, and going to Cardinal baseball games. Jay played in many billiard tournaments with the American Poolplayers Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Norma, nee Kessler, Oughton.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy, nee Gantner, Oughton; a daughter, Laura Oughton; two brothers, David (Marie) Oughton and Neal (Nancie) Oughton; a sister-in-law, Barbara (Dennis) Pollmann; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2023, at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2023, at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. David Darin officiating.

Burial with military honors will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.

Jay's dad Ralph and I played softball on St; Theresa's team many years ago when Jay was just a kid. May he rest in peace.
