Retired USAF MSgt. Jean Marie Comrey, nee Shoup, 67, of Belleville, IL, born January 19, 1956, in Girardville, PA, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023, with her family present, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, O’Fallon, IL.

Jean was a very proud member of the United States Air Force and United States Reserve 932nd.  She retired after 21 years of service. She was a life member of the VFW and American Legion. She was a very proud graduate of Wilmington University, New Castle, DE.

Jean loved to travel and her favorite places were with her granddaughter, Aria. Jean (aka the fish whisperer) always had a fish story to share. She loved her flower and vegetable gardens. Family and friends were always her top priority she loved talks and visits with everyone. Jean was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, George and Ferol, nee Bankes, Shoup; a sister, Sandy McKerns; and her dear grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and pets.

Surviving are her loving husband of 46 years, Jeffrey Comrey, whom she married in Pottstown, PA, on November 27, 1976; two sons, David Alan Comrey and Daniel Jeffrey Comrey; a daughter, Amy Marie (Aaron) Davis; a granddaughter, Aria Marie Davis; five siblings, Ferol Crosbie, George Shoup, Linda Inmon (Debbie Russo), Sharon (Bob) Troelsch and Lisa Faust; her dear grand cats, Mia, Alex and Mars; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Rev. James Brice officiating. Cremation will follow the services.

Burial with military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2023, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO, with a funeral procession leaving George Renner & Sons Funeral Home at 9:45 a.m.

She treated me as a grandson, and I always felt welcomed by her during the time I was in the US. I wish I could be with the Comrey family now, my family, to support them during this difficult time. Thank you for everything, Grandma; I will always remember you
