Jean Dinges

Jean Dinges
Print Obituary
Mary Jean Dinges, nee Maurath, 75, of Belleville, IL, born September 16, 1941, was welcomed into Heaven on Thursday, November 3, 2016.

Jean was truly a special person, as was so clearly evident to all those blessed to know her. She was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of St. Peter’s Cathedral parish. She was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Belleville, IL, and attended Maryville University in St. Louis, MO. She was a determined individual and always put forth nothing less than her best effort in every position she held during her life.

Her fervor for life was seen daily – from the beautiful hydrangeas she kept in her yard, to the holiday decorations at her home, always done to absolute perfection, to the detail she placed in preparing a perfect dinner party. She loved to travel as often and as far as possible, and she absorbed every moment and ounce of life’s experiences. Jean relished the yearly trips she took with her husband, Tom, children, grandchildren, and friends. She was an active member of the women’s organization, P.E.O. Chapter HR, and loved her gatherings and fundraising with her fellow P.E.O. members. She regularly attended luncheons with her friends and fellow graduates of Notre Dame Academy. During the summers, she would most often be found with her girlfriends enjoying the sun at Westhaven Bath & Tennis Club. From attending the Muny weekly in the summers, to season tickets at the Fox Theatre, to playing bridge with her friends, her schedule was always packed with social events.

Nothing in life brought her more joy than her relationships with her family and friends. The vastness of her circle of friends never hindered her from making each person she loved truly feel her care for them. She never missed a birthday, holiday, or important life event – always sending cards with personal notes, baking her delicious homemade pies, or inviting her loved ones to a dinner or lunch. She was an excellent listener, and her ability to keep in close touch with her friends was admirable.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Robert A. and Camilla B. (Touchette) Maurath, and her dear cousin, Dolores (Bill) Burnworth.

She is survived, and will be incredibly missed, by her loving husband of 55 years, Tom Dinges, her daughters, Lisa (Rick) Roberts of Florissant, MO, and Deb Blanquart of Belleville, IL; her grandchildren, Kate (Paul) Renner of St. Louis, MO, Connor Blanquart of Belleville, IL, and Charlie (Amy) Roberts of St. Louis, MO; and her great-granddaughter, Fiona Roberts.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to P.E.O. Chapter HR or Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 7, 2016, and 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: Funeral Procession will leave at 9:45 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Belleville, IL., with Msgr. John T. Myler and Msgr. James Buerster concelebrating.

Burial will be in Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.

My heart is breaking. Jean was like a 2nd mom to me , always long talks with me , so interested in my boring life , as hers was one to be envied . Many days at Westhaven , she was tan, thin and beautiful. Knowing her made you want to be a better person. I have tried several times to contact you , Lisa and Deb as I have had cancer and came close to dying . Like I said at my dads funeral the only good thing was seeing Lisa and Debbie. So I hope to be there . I couldn’t even finish reading the beautiful tribute to your beautiful mom .
