Jeane B. Briesacher, nee Abshier, 88, of Belleville, IL, born February 5, 1927, in Belleville, died Monday, November 23, 2015, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Jeane graduated from BTHS and attended Milliken University. She worked with her husband Irv as the business manager of their company, the Belleville Pump Company, for 35 years before her retirement. She also worked for State Farm in Minneapolis and Belleville.

Jeane was very active in her community. She and Irv were members of Trinity United Church of Christ, the Belleville Exchange Club, and among the earliest members of the YMCA’s first swimming pool where they swam daily. They traveled, camped and fished regularly in their retirement, and shared their bluegill catches far and wide.  Jeane also belonged to the PSOP Book Discussion Group and several other senior groups.

Jeane was an accomplished dressmaker and tailor; a voracious reader; a lover of cats; an avid gardener, a gourmet chef, and threw wonderful holiday parties and backyard barbeques. Her artistic skills included needlepoint, oil paint, knitting and crochet.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Irwin A. Briesacher, whom she married on October 8, 1949, and who died on April 14, 2000; her parents, Harold Ezekiel Dewey and Carolyn Frances, nee Payne, Abshier; and one sister, Joy Lynn Abshire.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jann Briesacher and Creag Banta of Baton Rouge, LA; and several cousins, nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren.

Her legacy is being carried on by her family of choice: Annette Parker of Belleville; Dennis Belieu and Carlos Carillo, of St. Louis; Mindy Ellington of Belleville; and Marilyn Dahm (friends since Kindergarten) and John Dahm, both of Belleville.
