Jeraldine A. “Jerri” Kessler, nee Fix, 92, a longtime resident of Freeburg, IL, born November 1, 1928, in St. Louis, MO, died Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Brightly Assisted Living, Mascoutah, IL.

Mrs. Kessler retired from E.M. Wiegmann & Co., where she worked for 27 years.  She was a member St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the Freeburg Women’s Club, and the Homemakers Education & Community. Jerri volunteered at the Freeburg Food & Clothing Bank and the Freeburg Library.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Kessler, whom she married on August 8, 1950, and died on March 19, 1987; her parents, William and Gertrude, nee Regan, Fix; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Ethel Kessler; a brother-in-law, Ernie Kuhn; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marlene and Paul “Kelly” Gross.

Surviving are three sons and a daughter, Richard (Linda) Kessler of Freeburg, IL, Ronald (Maria Jose) Kessler of Valencia, Spain, Don Joseph “Joe” (Tracy) Kessler, of Freeburg, IL, and Jane (Gary) Bruehl of Smithton, IL; nine grandchildren, Kristine (Brian) Kimmle, Bryan (Amanda) Kessler, Peter (Shari) Kessler, Anthony Kessler, Patrick (Gloria) Kessler, Katie (Joe) Ziemianski, Emily Kessler, Justin (Amanda) Bruehl, and Dan (Courtney) Bruehl; ten great-grandchildren, Ava, Gavin, and Vance Kimmle, Gabe, Viktor, Raegan, and Sam Kessler, Morgan Kessler, Sophie Ziemianski, and Jase Bruehl; a sister, Wilma Kuhn of New Baden, IL; nieces and nephews, Julia (Hank) Huff, Tom (Tracy) Kuhn, Tyann Gross, Paula Gross, Susan (Dave) Elmore, and Jennifer Gross; and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made in the form of mass offerings or to Family Hospice.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation:  Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Freeburg, IL.  Standard CDC guidelines will be followed, including masks and social distancing.

Funeral:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Freeburg, IL, with Fr. Von Deeke officiating, and Deacon Corby Valentine.

A private family burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Freeburg, IL.

We are so sorry to hear of your family’s loss of such an amazing matriarch. I will never forget how much help she was to me after our son Kevin was born. Our hearts and prayers are with all of you as I know she will be greatly missed.

I just found out about Jeri I'm glad she's at rest now. I loved your mom she was Lady Kessler. Had such a good time with her while growing up and beyond. She was a sweet lady . Lot's of good times with "Miter & Lady Love you guys Chris and Craig

My deepest sympathy Jerri’s death. Sorry I can’t make it for visitation but wanted all of you know I loved visiting with Jerri at her home. She was so fun to talk to. At least she is with Don now and at peace. Love you all!

I got the opportunity to assist Jeri at Brightly while she lived there. She was an amazing lady. I remember playing bingo with the residents and she enjoyed it so much. She also enjoyed her walks around the building. I am so sorry for her families loss. May you Rest In Peace.
