A devout woman of faith, Joan enjoyed making her home this last year and a half at St. Francis Center at the Esquiline Apartment Community at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows where she could walk to church and was able to make many more dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Roland G. Gooding, whom she married on January 22, 1959, and who died on June 25, 2016; her parents, John H. and Rose T., nee Gausepohl, Schwellensattl; a sister, Clarice (Norman) Keller; a brother, Harvey (Mary) Clinton; and a brother-in-law, Don Siddall.

Our deepest sympathies to the extended Gooding family. We originally got to know Joan & Rolly at the Lake. Many good memories of spending time together wether playing cards, socializing at the Elks or taking boat rides. Always a kind fun loving Christian couple. We were honored to know them. So sorry for your loss.

We will always treasure the memories of traveling to Lake Ozark and seeing the friendly neighbors next door, the Goodings. Rolly and Joan were the most kind hearted people I know, it was so awesome and comforting when my mom and dad (John and Dorothy Heinz) moved next door to Rolly and Joan, Rolly an Joan always kept an eye out for my mom and dad and visa versa, then when our full families came down to the Lake at the same time, it was a blast with both our families combined, we became family, Joan was such a wonderful lady, always so happy, helpful and a wonderful cook. We will all miss Joan but as everyone is saying she is in heaven now joined in happiness with Rolly and so many other loved ones, family and dear friends. Love you Joan R.I.P we know you are celebrating you new eternal life in a beautiful place we call heaven, and someday will be reunited with other loved ones joining you in heaven. (After all it way better and beautiful place than all the stuff going on here.

My deepest sympathy to all of the family. Her love, generosity and sense of humor were a great gift. I'll always remember the fun times we had together, in a packed house or pool. Joan and Rolly were so perfect for each other. Now together again, forever. Prayers, love and hugs.

Dear Judy, Angie & Mike, You were blessed with such great parents. They were such wonderful people. We were always greeted with hugs and smiles. We know that they are both happy now, in Heaven together, forever. They were both so talented, each in their own way, and made the perfect couple, We will always treasure the beautiful etched cookie jar your Mom made for us years ago. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with all of you as you face this difficult time.

To Judy, Mike, Angie, their families and all of Joans other families and friends. I’m so sorry for you’re mom’s passing. Joan was always like a second mom to me, Michelle and Julie! As I sit here writing this I’m thinking of our childhood! Our parents Bud and Bette and your mom and dad being best friends! I can’t remember times we weren’t together! All of the vacations we took and our second home at the lake! Your mom was always cooking and laughing while she did it! Breakfast was always ready! My favorite was her baked French toast! Your mom always had an open door policy and I remember always being at your house when you lived on Anita dr! Everyone called her mom!! I still call her mom! She was the best!! I could go on and on how much fun we had and how having her as part of our lives helped to mold us into the women we have become! She is truly loved and will be missed dearly! You’re mom has touched so many lives! I love you all and again we are so sorry for your loss! Dawne

Joan, my dearest and closest friend, you were the older sister I never had. I would say big sister, but I was always taller than you. If anyone thinks that that was improper, then they really don’t know Joan. Joan and Rolly were all about fun and friends. Everyone was always welcome in their home for a meal or a week. I always envied Joan’s ability to cook the most fabulous meals I’ve ever enjoyed. But she could’ve got by with a below average meal anytime due to the fact that we always laughed so hard while were eating that we would not have noticed. We did so many things together over the 39 years we shared. When life changed drastically for Denny and I in 2004, the two of you were always there with your unconditional love and friendship. We shared many hours of private time together and never, ever had one single harsh word between any of us. We could always, always count on each other to help the other one out no matter what the problem was So many holidays, dock parties, meals out and movies… I will have enough memories to last me until I join you. I miss you, my friend, and so does Denny. He always enjoyed making your drinks stronger than you normally drank and you never let him forget it. But my heart is totally at ease because I know where you are and that Rolly is so happy to have you back. And I am pretty jealous of you because now you don’t have to read the “Jesus Calling” book any more, you get to talk to him face-to-face. We love you both, miss you both, and know that we will be with you again. Love forever and always, Mary and Denny ???

I wish I were there to say good bye in a proper way. Mom was a beautiful, generous, thoughful human being full of wisdom and love. May she rest in peace together with Dad in Heaven, where God will be waiting for all of us. My condolences and love to the whole family, which turned into mine when I lost my parents.
