To Jack’s family, I am so sorrry! I only just heard of Jack’s death today. I had talked with Jack a few times over the phone after we discovered that we were related. He had responded to me through ancestry.com - we share our great-grandfather James Brennan. He kindly spoke with me and shared the family research he had written up. I had hoped to meet him, as we also live in Illinois. But, sadly, that never happened. I send the family my deepest condolences. I’m sure that he was a wonderful family man and that you’ve all learned many important life lessons from him. I thank God for his life! May God send you His healing graces and love. All my best to you! Cathy McQuillan

Jack was my first cousin by blood , but as Air Force pilots we were truly comrades in arms. I always enjoyed swapping war stories with Jack and talking about Ireland and the remarkable Halton family roots in Cavan Town!

Family is not always by blood. Family is the connection that occurs when hearts, minds and souls are bonded. John was that to the Poe girls always. His sense of adventure in world travels always kept my ear listening...he married my cousin and the brought wonderful children into this life to be in Family. Our never long or often enough Family Reunions were filled with such joy. But, it's not what we do in in life that makes up Family. Family is who we are. Thank you, John, for being family.
