I am so saddened by the news of Jack’s passing. Having been neighbors with you all in Belleville for 20 years, I will miss him when I return from Memphis. Much love and prayers to the whole family.

Jack was one of the early laymen teachers hired at Cathedral High School by the Brothers of Mary, and he continued to Althoff as we opened in 1964. He definitely enhanced our group. Sympathy to his family and offspring.

I first met Jack in 2004 while he was on a visit to Australia, and we “clicked” to the stage that we haves then spent enjoyable weeks in each other’s company both here and in the States. He was a great bloke with a wonderful sense of humour – I look forward to saying “G’day Jack” to him as he waits at at the pearly hates.

I just heard about Coach Gagen's passing. At football practice my senior year (1967), he told me I had bowed legs and I'd be a good hurdler and that he expected to see me at track practice in the Spring. I showed up, he taught me how to hurdle, and for a brief moment in time, I held the school record for the high hurdles. He was a good guy.
