Joseph Edward Ballard, 46, of Belleville, IL, born May 14, 1977, in Belleville, IL, died Sunday, August 27, 2023.

Joe loved his family, friends, the lake, and Cardinal games. Joe had the best smile known and it would light up any room.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Virginia Ballard and Edward and Juanita Gale; and his aunt, Kimberly, nee Gale, Reno.

He is survived by his parents, Dale and Elizabeth, nee Gale, Ballard; two sisters, Laura May and Mary (Clayton) Snokhous; a brother, Christopher Ballard; a nephew and nieces, Ian May, Scarlett, Savanah, Poppy, and Piper; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gateway Foundation – 55 E. Jackson Blvd, Suite 1500, Chicago, IL 60604. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, September 10, 2023, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, September 10, 2023, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Carmen Wuebbels officiating.

A celebration of life will be held after the service at Bicentennial Park, Belleville, IL.

I’m going to miss him. I still have the 61 movie he let me borrow. I’m not on any social media type stuff so I don’t hear things as quick as some. I’m sorry for everybody’s loss. I hope he is in cardinal heaven

I was devastated to hear about the passing of our dear friend. It's hard to put into words the depth of sorrow I feel right now. We've known each other since grade school, and the memories we created together are cherished treasures. Our friend's presence will be deeply missed, but their impact on our lives will never fade.

I am so sad to hear of Joes passing. We have been friends a long time and loved talking baseball together. I just saw him a few weeks he came to a game and came to see me. He will be missed. Prayers to his family.
