Joseph Kreher Jr.

Print Obituary
Joseph “Joe” C. Kreher Jr., 64, of Freeburg, IL, born February 3, 1958, in Belleville, IL died Saturday, November 19, 2022, in Winston-Salem, NC.

Joe was joined in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Patricia (Self) Kreher, whom he married on April 6, 1979; and preceded by his parents Joseph Sr. and Evelyn, nee Kehrer, Kreher; and a beloved brother, Edward Kreher.

Joe was a devout parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Freeburg, IL. Professionally, Joe and Patti’s legacy is their joint ownership and operation of General Machine, Inc. where Joe served as Chief Operating Officer and President; there, they enjoyed great success that they generously shared. Beyond General Machine, Inc., Joe enjoyed many hobbies over the years, including running and flying; he was a skilled private pilot and flight instructor. Joe and Patti lived vibrant lives together, spending much of their free time traveling together or entertaining their many friends. Joe’s proudest and dearest accomplishment of all was his children and grandchildren, and he seized every opportunity to attend soccer games, swim lessons, school functions, and more. Joe will be loved, missed, and remembered by so many as a generous father, “PaPa,” brother, and friend.

Surviving are his two sons, Brian Joseph (Catherine) Kreher and Daniel John Kreher; a daughter, Amy Lynn Crean; four grandchildren, Louis and Hattie Jo (Amy) Crean, and twins, Harper Florence and Emery Josephine (Brian) Kreher; a brother, Kenneth (Lori) Kreher; a sister-in-law, Betty Kreher; many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and employees.

It Has been Over a year since Losing Your "Very Special" Parents, in what they enjoyed doing in their Short Lives! Traveling to see their Children, & Grandchildren! I personally feel as though this sadness just happened, I suppose because we NEVER really get over our Losses but, are forced to live with them! I never got the privilege to meet Joe, but felt as though I knew him, from communicating w/ his wife, (from a distance), w/ my cousin, Patti! What a Wonderful life they led, & generously gave of themselves to everyone they touched! Proof of their Good Hearts are the Grown Children they Raised & Loved! We WILL move on w/ life, but Never forget Patti & Joe Kreher!!! GOD BLESS THEM & their Loved Ones!

I am so sorry for your loss. I have known Joe for about ten since going through QB initiation together. I have flown all my life and understand that flight is very unforgiving but that does not mean that we avoid all risk in an airplane, car, etc. Risks are usually manageable but we can not predict all the risks in every flight. I have lost a number of friends in aviation, I can assure you that Joe did his very best under the circumstances he faced. Please accept the condolences of a fellow aviator and QB. Respectfully, Joe Bynum
