Josephine J. “Jo” Kosydor, nee Boryczka, 95, of Belleville, IL, born January 14, 1921, in East St. Louis, IL, died Sunday, August 7, 2016, at Dammert Geriatric Center, Belleville, IL.

Mrs. Kosydor was an office assistant in the offices of Drs. Freeland, Lesko, and Osland, for 19 years until her retirement.  She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, the St. Clair Women’s Club and the Belleville-Swansea Women of the Moose.  Jo was also a life member of the Polish American Ladies Society and the “Ya Ya” club.   She was an avid Cardinal baseball fan, enjoyed bowling with the Mary Reed Memorial Bowling League, and baking pies for family and friends.

Josephine was preceded in death by her husband Raymond L. Kosydor, who died on January 24, 1986; her parents, John and Katherine, nee Owca, Boryczka; two brothers, Joseph Burke and Stanley Boryska; three sisters, Vera Kirk, Marie Przybylski, and Bernice Glavin; and two nieces, Mary Ann Emerson and Pam Canaan.

Surviving are one son, Kevin (Kathy) Kosydor of Belleville, IL;
one daughter, Connie (Brian) Smith of St. Petersburg, FL;
two grandchildren, Shane Smith and Brooke (Christopher) Nelson;
a great grandson, Smith Brian Nelson;
a sister-in-law Sophie Burke, of Eureka, MO;
a niece, Doris Canaan of Mills River, NC;
six nephews, Tom (Vicki) Burke, of Eureka, MO,
Joe (Debbie) Burke, of Wildwood, MO,
Phil Burke, of Belleville, IL,
Bob (Sharon) Boryska,
Jim (Joyce) Boryska of Tualatin, OR,
and Ron ( Debbie) Boryska, of Oregon City, OR;
great nieces;
great nephews;
and dear friend, Elaine Kubicki.

The Kosydor family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at the Dammert Geriatric Center and the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows Apartment Community for their loving care and support.  Special thanks also to Drs. Mazhar Lakho and Gary Vicik and their staffs for special medical care.

Visitation:  Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL; and from 10:30 to ll:15 a.m. Thursday, at the Shrine Apartment Community Chapel.

Funeral:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016, at the Shrine Apartment Community Chapel, Belleville, IL with Fr. Joseph Ferrioli officiating. Burial will be at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
