Josiah “Josh” E. Swope, 39, of Belleville, IL, born March 21, 1978, in Belleville, IL, died Sunday, September 10, 2017, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Josh was a truck driver for Steelman Transportation.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Shannon and Edward Hechenberger, Donna and George Swope, and Kelsey and Dorthy Hickman; two uncles, Richard Hechenberger and Kelsey W. Hickman; and a good friend, Chris Swallow.

Surviving are his wife, Brandi, nee Hickman, Swope;
his mother, Mary Ann, nee Hechenberger, Swope;
his father, Gary Edward Swope;
three sisters, Kim Duke, and Heather and Allie Swope;
two brothers, Jason and Joseph Swope;
a niece, Blu Jem (Zack) Adams;
a nephew, Sky Cloud Swope;
a great-niece, Sapphire Adams;
his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Kim (John) Hickman;
a godson, Christopher Moppins;
a brother-in-law, Johnathon;
two sisters-in-law, Ashlei and Tiffani;
two aunts, Barb Hechenberger and Nancy (Steve) Ritter;
two uncles, Steve (Debbie) Hechenberger and Fr. Gerald Hechenberger;
and brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral: Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2017, at the American Legion Freedom Farm, Freeburg, IL.  A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at St. Luke Catholic Church, Belleville, IL.
