Joyce Ann Gibbons, nee Batson, 84, of O’Fallon, IL, formerly of Belleville, IL, born August 30, 1936, in Granite City, IL, died Monday, August 9, 2021, at Cedar Ridge Health Care Center, Lebanon, IL.

Mrs. Gibbons worked as a registered nurse at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL, for more than 35 years before her retirement. She was a member of the DePaul Hospital Retired Nurses Association.   Joyce belonged to the Senior Citizens Club of Belleville, the Delta Theta Tau Sorority, and the Belleville Elks Club.  She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and belonged to the Ladies Sodality at the church. Joyce loved to travel, play bingo, and be at the beach, but most of all, being with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Jerry L. Gibbons, whom she married on April 12, 1958, and who died on August 23, 1983; her parents, Albert J. and Florida M., nee Snipes, Batson;

Joyce is survived by a daughter, Jan M. (Brian) Tuchten of Caseyville, IL;
three sons, Jeffrey J. (Margaret) Gibbons of San Antonio, TX, John R. (Gina) Gibbons of Caseyville, IL, and James B. (Melissa) Gibbons of Oxford, MI;
10 grandchildren;
eight great-grandchildren;
a sister, Nancy (John) Mullen of Granite City, IL;
two brothers, Michael (Judy) Batson, and Joseph Batson, both of Bunker Hill, IL;
and nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation:  Friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 12, 2021, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, August 13, 2021, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O’Fallon, IL. Standard CDC guidelines, including masks and social distancing, will be observed.

Funeral:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 13, 2021, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O’Fallon, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating.

Entombment will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Fairview Heights, IL.
