Mrs. Groom was a teacher for 13 years, then worked as a librarian for more than 30 years and was the library director for the Freeburg Area Library at the time of her retirement. She loved storytelling, entertaining, and spending time with her friends and family. Judith was a member of the congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Judith was preceded in death by her father, Edmund P. Reinkemeyer; her mother, Dolores “Dee” J., nee Schmoll, Hilpert; and a brother, Gerald Reinkemeyer.
Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Terry L. Groom, whom she married on March 6, 1976, at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Belleville, IL;
a son, Joel (Kara) Groom of Wood River, IL;
a daughter, Wendy (Dominic) Swiney of Belleville, IL;
a granddaughter, Kylee Swiney;
five grandsons, Kodie Groom, Reilly Swiney, Ethan Groom, Aiden Groom, and Ehren Groom;
a sister, Janice (Steve) Wagner of Freeburg, IL;
one aunt;
one uncle;
many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law;
and many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.
