Julia Aflleje McKenzie, nee Tajalle, 70, of Freeburg, IL, born July 2, 1951, in Piti, Guam, died Monday, June 20, 2022, at Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, IL.

Mrs. McKenzie enjoyed listening to music, playing bingo, and bowling. She loved to cook for her family and friends, and, for several years, was an avid fan of car racing on the salt flats.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco Muna and Rita, nee Lizama, Tajalle; and two brothers, Juan A. and Vicente A. Tajalle.

Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Brighton N. McKenzie Jr., whom she married on June 23, 1973; a son, Brighton N. McKenzie III “Lil Mac”; a daughter, Andrea M. McKenzie; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and siblings, Frances T. Mesaris, Florence T. Galushka, Gloria T.Mattioli, Francisco A. Tajalle Jr., Katherin A. Cole, Elizabeth T. Schmitt, and Patricia T. Forsberg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Julia was one of the kindest and funniest person I have ever known. She was one of the best cooks in the world. She will be sorely missed and the world is a sadder place without her. Love ya Julia.

Auntie Julie had the most infectious and contagious laugh, and the best sense of humor. We will always cherish our time and memories with her. From cooking, to staying up laughing late into the night. She is, and always will be deeply loved and missed!
