Mr. Blades worked as an examiner for Peabody Coal Company. He was a U. S. Army veteran.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth W. and Myrtle M., nee Meeks, Blades; two sisters, Judy and Barbara; and one brother, Teddy.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Virginia, nee Berquez, Blades, whom he married
on October 13, 1962;
four children, Julie (Jeff) Glauber of Fayetteville, IL,
Steven Blades of Fayetteville, IL,
Paul Darren (Danette) Blades of Mascoutah, IL,
and Karla Blades of Fayetteville, IL;
seven grandchildren, Nicki and Brian Glauber,
Stephen and Annie Blades,
Jacob and Dylan Blades,
and Zoe Blades;
three sisters, Hazel Wylie,
Phyllis Cox,
and Carolyn Nelson;
and two brothers, Donald Blades,
and Tommy Blades.
