Kathryn A. “Kay” Dahlmann, nee McCann, 94, of Belleville, IL, born June 10, 1921, in Colgate, ND, died Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Mrs. Dahlmann began her career by teaching in a one-room schoolhouse in North Dakota for six years.  She later taught at Cathedral Grade School in Belleville for 27 years.  Kay was a member of St. Peter’s Cathedral Parish and belonged to the Perpetual Help Sodality at the church.  She was involved with the Cathedral parish council, she served on the Cathedral Grade School board, and she was a former chairperson for the Ministries of Care and Social Outreach at the church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William J. Dahlmann, whom she married on November 14, 1945, and who died on February 11, 1999; her parents, James T. and Anna M., nee Schumacher, McCann; one sister, Elizabeth McCann; three brothers, Archie McCann, Virgil G. McCann, Charles L. McCann; and a daughter-in-law, Kay E. Dahlmann.

Surviving are three sons, Thomas W. (JoAnn) Dahlmann,
Donald J. Dahlmann (Ronda),
and William C. (Jeanne) Dahlmann, all of Belleville, IL;
nine grandchildren, Samantha (Danny) Bauer, Amanda (Blake) White,
Liz Dahlmann, Katy Dahlmann (fiance, Tim Burnett) , Dana (Brian) Roscoe,
Sara (Greg) Sierra, Margaret (Tom) Riley, Bill Dahlmann, and Julia Dahlmann;
ten great-grandchildren;
and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The Dahlmann family would like to extend their sincere gratitude towards the staff at Memorial Hospital.

Visitation:  Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2016, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, and from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Friday, January 22, 2016, at The Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows Apartment Community Chapel, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:15 a.m. Friday, January 22, at The Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows Apartment Community Chapel with Fr. Joseph Ferraioli and Bishop Stanley Schlarman concelebrating.  Burial will follow at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
