He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Emily, nee Nord, Mather; two brothers, Theodore Mather and Freddy (Dorothy) Mather; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Marie Huschle; and a brother-in-law, Bob Huschle.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Margaret Mather, whom he married on September 6, 1965; two daughters, Ellen (Tadd) Moore and Kathy Hawanchak; three grandchildren, Gavin Moore, Joey Hawanchak, and Tommy Hawanchak; a sister-in-law, Jackie Huschle; a brother-in-law, Donald Huschle; a niece, Michelle (Mike) Quirin; a nephew, Scott (Dawn) Huschle; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2021, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Deacon Corby Valentine officiating.
Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Shiloh, IL.
