Kristine Winterbauer

Print Obituary
Kristine A. Winterbauer, nee Loesche, 63, of Freeburg, IL, born September 15, 1955, in Red Bud, IL, passed away Friday, January 18, 2019, at Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, IL.

Friends and family might remember Kris for her elaborate Thanksgiving dinners, as a member of your bowling team, from hours spent dancing to music in her kitchen, as an avid player of the NCAA basketball pools, on rare occasions, as your fishing buddy, and, on less rare occasions, as your drinking buddy.

Kristine and Mark, her husband of 45 years, loved traveling and being with their grandchildren – watching them grow, going to their sporting events and dance recitals.  She loved life, her family, reading, sunbathing, listening to the bells of St. Paul’s Church, and music of all types.  All of these things could instantly bring a smile to her face.  We may have lost Kris, but we will never lose the memory of her smile.

Kristine was preceded in death by her father, Virgil Loesche; and her father-in-law, Robert Winterbauer.

Surviving are her loving husband, Mark Winterbauer, whom she married on March 25, 1973;
one daughter, Melissa (Timothy) Vetter of Glen Carbon, IL;
two grandchildren, Kai and Edie Vetter;
her mother, June, nee Baehr, Loesche of Freeburg, IL;
two sisters, Susan (Greg) Becherer of Freeburg, IL, and Amy (Tom) Drake of New Athens, IL;
her mother-in-law, Barbara Winterbauer of Freeburg, IL;
two brothers-in-law, Wayne (Kathy) Winterbauer of West Mifflin, PA, and John (Lisa) Winterbauer of Freeburg, IL.

Kris will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.

“Because of your smile, you make life more beautiful.”

Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Freeburg, IL, or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2019 and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, IL.

Funeral:  A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, IL, with Rev. Earl Crecelius officiating.

Condolences:

Susie and Amy - My heart breaks for you in the loss of your lovely sister. My fondest memories of Kris are when I was "growing up" in the Loesche household back in the late 60s. I remember Kris being coolest person I had ever known in her bellbottom jeans and halter tops. I remember watching her every move, including sneaking peeks at Mark and her kissing in the car when he dropped her off after their dates. What I remember most about Kris was her kindness. She had nothing to gain by being nice to her kid sister's best friend, and yet she was always kind. May her loving spirit be set free from the illness that stole the last few years of her life and may you and your families find comfort in knowing that others are thinking of you in the days to come.
