Larry worked in the power plant at Washington University for 8 years and retired at the age of 60, after 25 years of service in the power plant for General Motors in St. Louis and then in Wentzville, MO.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Eileen, nee Irvin, Burtz.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Carol, nee Seibert, Burtz;
his two sisters, Christine Campo and Dolores Bates, both of Waterloo, IL;
two brothers-in-law, Roland “Smiley” (Sharon) Seibert and John Patrick Lynch;
three sisters-in-law, Linda Sobczak, Cathy Lynch, and Cindy Stride;
his dear friend, Bob Johnston;
as well as nieces, nephews, and many friends.
The family wishes to express special thanks to the doctors and great staff at Illinois Oncology, as well as the doctors, nurses, and technicians at Memorial Hospital. Many thanks, also, to all the friends who visited in Larry’s last week of life and expressed so much love. Know that he loved you.

Larry and I worked together for many years, he was unique in every respect, funny and a friend to all, and one of the most unforgettable persons you ever met.
