Lenore Margaret Dammrich, nee Eckhardt, 98, of Belleville, IL, born April 2, 1916, in Belleville, IL, died Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Mrs. Dammrich had been a special education teacher at St. Philip Grade School, East St. Louis, IL.  She was a member of St. Henry’s Parish, Belleville, IL, where she was a member of the Ladies of St. Henry’s and the St. Henry’s Quilters.  Lenore was a volunteer at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL, and a member of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Kermit Dammrich, whom she married in 1940, and who died on August 9, 1987; her parents, Erwin W. and Adele, nee Riordan, Eckhardt; a brother, William (Virginia) Eckhardt; and a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Dammrich.

Mary Ann (Joseph) Hook,
Thomas (Carol) Dammrich,
John (Cathy) Dammrich,
Joseph (Debbie) Dammrich,
and Eileen (Kent) Decker;
18 grandchildren, Terri Romes, Brian (Jennifer) Romes, John Romes,
William (Allison) Navarro, Debbi (Charles) Bender, Amy (Ryan) Rassin,
Jennifer Hook, TJ Dammrich, Danny (Maryanne) Dammrich,
Matt (Moira) Dammrich, Ellen Dammrich, Lauren (Zachary) Hesterberg,
Michael Dammrich, Brian Dammrich, Jamie Dammrich,
Tim Decker, Kevin Decker, and Kristi Decker;
12 great-grandchildren, Alexia, Jennifer, Kristi, Gary,
Ryan, Brady, Kate, Ellie, Luke, Jack, Morgan, and Paige;
six great-great-grandchildren, Logan, Ashleigh,
Sophia, Aaron, Ivy, and Chloe;
and nieces.

Visitation:  Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2015, and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.

Funeral:  Funeral procession will leave at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015, from the funeral home for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Kenneth York officiating.  Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Belleville, IL.

My deepest condolences to the entire Dammrich family on the loss of their mother and grandmother. She was a special person ahead of her time as a Special Education teacher at St. Philip’s Grade School. She not only taught her own students, but showed the rest of us how to accept and respect everyone regardless of differences.
