Leta M. Johnson, nee Penrod, 77, of Belleville, IL, born August 10, 1945, in Anna, IL, died Thursday, February 2, 2023, at St. Paul’s Home, Belleville, IL.

Leta retired as an executive secretary from Bank of America. She loved St. Louis Cardinal baseball, her cats, and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Johnson, Sr., who died on November 4, 2000; and her father, Merl Penrod; and her brother, Merl Leon Penrod.

She is survived by two sons, Donnie (Abbi) Johnson and John (Michelle) Johnson; a daughter, Ann (Lee) Curd; her mother Dorothy, nee Lynn, Penrod; nine grandchildren, Kassie (Michael) Edwards, Jon Paul Johnson, Vincent (Nicole) Johnson, DiMitri Johnson, Phillip Johnson, Randy (Scott) Ely, Bradley Aderholt, Brandon (Kiaya) Curd, and Korena (Josiah) Southall; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Belleville Area Humane Society. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

 Funeral: Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Anna City Cemetery, Anna, IL.

My prayers and sympathies to Leta's family during this difficult time. I worked with Leta at Bank of America. She was always such a joy to work with and socialize with at the ballgames and elsewhere. She'll be missed, but will be keeping everyone in Heaven in line just as she did us at the office! RIP, Leta!
