
His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges, and the “Ole Hawk” stayed strong until the end. Mr. Jessup served in the United States Navy. After serving, he embarked on a lengthy career with Golden Dipt Corporation in Millstadt, IL. Lige loved Cardinal baseball, fishing, and the stock market. Throughout his life, Lige was known for hosting large gatherings filled with family and friends. All who knew him have a story of how he impacted their lives.
Lige was preceded in death by his parents, Lige Sr., and Marie, nee Myler, Jessup; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rita “June” (Jessup) and Melvin Stumpf, Mary Jane (Jessup) and Charlie Smith, Jean (Jessup) and Robert Sweeny, Patricia Jessup; and his “fur babies,” Ruby and Max.
Surviving are his two daughters and sons-in-law and two grandchildren, Jennifer (Jessup) and Trent Anderson and their children, Evan and Quinn of Bloomington, IN., Cindy (Jessup) and Kirk Todd of Ozark, MO; and his beloved companion, Nora Caldwell of Swansea, IL. Lige is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2022, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. John T. Myler officiating.
Burial with military honors will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
